question about curing rock?

I keep reading about how to cure rock, now does that apply to any kind of rock that you may find along the beach that was once living? I am curious because I finally got my 150 gal up and running and full of rock that I found on the beach. I have another tank full of LR that I got from others that has been up and running for 6 months now. any input is helpful.

IMO. I would cook the rock before introducing it to the DT. And then i would be very careful about that. Remember the shore acts as a protein skimmer. Lots of unwanted chemicals and pest. What is the law for collecting LR in Japan?

not suppose to remove anything from the beaches. There is a hefty fine for it but no one really cares. I get most of my corals from a research lab like 5 min. away. I got some rock and I am trying to cure it right now. just wanted to know if any ol rock could be cured in the whole 6 week time like i hear wherever i read.
