When I feed my fish I have noticed that the skimmer looses its head for @ 2-3 hrs is this normal? Should I turn off retirn pump and skimmer or just let it run as I am now and just know that the skimmer is going to behave this way?

Yes feeding or adding suppliments can affect a Needle wheel skimmer. My skimmer used to freak out when I feed or added amino acids...

Wash those hands, not sure which water though...
