10g nano stocked with just a little scooter blenny and a few hermits and a few snails. Been cycling it for 2 months now and everything has been perfect, crystal clear water no problems at all. Wake up this morning do the usual feed of a little bit of frozen brine shrimp which my blenny loves, and left for work.

I come home and the tank is a cloudy stinky mess! All the CUC and Snails and Blenny is accounted for. Blenny is just sitting on bottom breathing rather heavily looking a little stressed! I have 2 little whisper filters on it with just the foam pads, which i just cleaned off.

Anyways i do a weekly water change every sunday about 10% why the heck would this all of a sudden crash like this!? There was absolutely nothing wrong this morning and i get home and havoc!!!!!!!

No time to go to fish store to get water tested so i cant post params just curious as to what you guys would do!! Should i change some water? i only have about a gallon and a half of distilled water on hand and i dont want to use tap....let me know im worried about my tank!

Well I just started my tank, but if that happened, 1st thing I would check is all the parameters.

Temp, PH, salinity, no2, no3, ammonia etc etc.

you really need to have your own test kits. mainly for this purpose. it will help out so much more.

but in the mean time I would do a water change.

I maybe new and not no much but it sounds like you don't have testing supplies. If that is so, you need to get some. Can't be depending on a Lfs to do your work, testing supplies should be purchased with the tank!

First thing I would do is change at least 50% of the water. Don't mess around just do water changes ASAP.

I would do a water change and run some carbon.

You can buy distilled water from any grocery store. You've got to be close to one that's open 24 hours...

Cuke is a likely culprit. Caulerpa can also do it.
Running carbon and a 20% water change tonight, a 10% in another couple of days, test alk, temp, salinity, ph, ammonia, nitrate, etc. And KEEP A LOG BOOK, because memory isn't sufficient in the long term.

Sk8r, you can easily do a much bigger WC in this type of situation. I would definitely do at least 50% in this case...conservatively. If it was happening at my house I may do more than that.
