Just an FYI on how impressed I am with the company. As most of you know that have the Koralia pumps they only shoot the water out of two of the four openings which makes it hard to adjust your flow. I have 2 #3 Pumps that I bought back in the summer, and 2 more #4 pumps that I just bought last month. The #4 pumps came with a flow deflector that makes the flow stream out the front of the pump and not the sides, and I love this fact. The problem was that they do not sell these deflectors anywhere. I emailed the company and ask about this and to my surprise I opened my mail box today and there was a box with two of the deflectors in it. This is a great company with great support. :D

Same here they sent me one for each of my powerheads also. My Blenny used to climb inside when I turned them off for feeding. I was always worried I would turn them on while he was there someday. But now with the covers he can't get inside the Koralia anymore. Also love the stream flow as well :)

Great company and customer support.

I've never seen or heard of these deflectors. They sound pretty cool tho.

I'm also a fan of Hydor. I started with one of the K4 powerheads, then I bought another one along with a Hydor moonlight. :D

I got those attachment pieces with my HK 3 and dont quite see the point of using them. I bought these powerheads specifically because they don't shoot a jet of water out a single constrained opening like maxi-jets do. Seems like using them kinda defeats the purpose.

Seapug, you're 100% correct. It's nice that they come with them, but I wouldn't buy a Koralia with the intention of using one of those adapters. It's the nice wide dispersal that makes them worth getting.

i had a snail go in there and messd up the impeller. now it is kind of noisy.

im curious to see what they look like. (someone post a pic please) i have 4 #4's and think there ok but the flow kinda spins around the pump and the only thing you get comming from the front of the pump are two thin sheets of water flow at a 90 angle. that definitely makes directing the flow so it doesnt blast something hard. if these deflectors make the water flow a little more directional im interested.

so anyone have a photo of them on and off the pump?

I can't find any pics, but they basically look like a small slightly-conical nozzle that snaps on to the outlet at the front of the housing. If you want the flow to be more directional they are definitely worth using....then again, so are maxi-jets.

how do you get them to stay on?

They snap on the end -- not the best connection IMO, but I agree with others -- the reason I went with the hydor prop is for the turbulence, there are much less expensive ways to get good laminar flow.

FWIW, I own four of these (two K-3's, one K-2, and one K-1) They're all outstanding, and I wouldn't be surprised if the K-3 is putting out more flow than advertised. I've only had one problem -- I removed a K-3 for about a week (it had run for a month or so) temporarily while trying to get the flow I wanted, and it ended up dead when I tried to use it again.

thats why i want pics. a maxi has like a 1/2" outlet. i seriously doubt these attachments reduce down this far. i have Seios in multiple sizes also and they are directional but the flow is more of a stream not a pressure point. if i can get that from the hydor i will be happy

It doesn't reduce the outlet. It just extends the output. The flow is just like my nano stream with these adapters.

It really a huge improvement IMO.

This is the only email i see for them...

well i must agree!! i e-mailed them last week and got a response with in 10min:eek2: i requested 4 deflectors and they said "whats your address"

got them a few days ago and i really like them. they dont restrict the flow a bit. dont make the pump any bigger and i think the pump looks better, it doesn't look like a big ol egg now. and i think the more directional flow is better.

glad you like them. Really big improvement!

Now they need to reduce the size of the pumps by about 1/3....

My pygmy angel loves to climb in these things during feeding time (which is on a timer) and nip at algae.. scares the **** out of me! I don't want to put the cover on the koralias because it makes the flow so much more directional.

I'm running one of the 3's and love it. Also the dirrectional thingy pops off so easy for cleaning its a breeze. Its pretty handy to pop it off and unleash the beast at times tho. Better then a gravel vac, lol. But I have a tiny empty tank. 50 gallons

Thank you for this. I wrote to Mr. Matt Herreid, the USA contact on their web page at hydor.usa@hydor.com and never heard a response. It has been several weeks. I will try fmoore and see if I have better luck.
