I have two clownfish that have been in my 10 gallon quarantine tank for three weeks now. One of them is not looking very healthy. He is breathing very hard and laying on his side on the bottom at times. The other clownfish has been pestering him. Probably trying to establish dominance?

Is my fish in bad shape? Anything I can do? Is it ok to keep these two together?

He might not make it. It just happens sometimes. Could be your water parameters, but just as likely could be from shipping stress etc. You could try to separate them with a tupperware or something. Look in the fish disease and treatment forum and you might find more answers.

Did you observe him eating at the LFS when you bought him?

I just checked the parameters of my replacement water, which I keep in a 15 gallon rubbermaid container. A reading of .25 for ammonia is showing up. I don't get how I could have ammonia in the replacement water?
