K, i added this stuff for red slime called "red slime remover" and very soon after my skimmer started creating an insane amount of bubbles and keeps overflowing my collection cup? is there something in the water that would make it create alot more bubbles?

Turn it off for 24 hours , its normal these things freak with any change. Freaks more with some changes then others.

yup, skimmers will react to certain additives in your water column. using a lot of underwater epoxy to mount corals will also set off your skimmer, for example.

Does the red slime remover work? I had the same reaction and also found out I should have turned my skimmer of for 24 hours. I'm not sure if the stuff worked becuase I paniced and did a water change because of the massive micro bubbles.

Does the red slime remover work?

It has worked for me, but it only masks the problem. Correcting the issue thats causing it would be a better solution.

Well the slime is starting to break up and dissipate. So im guessing it worked. It was only on one rock though.

BTW a2fire2i, what would be possible issues that would cause it anyway?

Red slime remover caused your overflow. You are supposed to turn off your skimmer. Also, after the 48 hours you will need to watch your skimmer because it will go nuts until the stuff is removed.

All red slime removers tell you to turn off your skimmer. They contain oxidizers. If your skimmer is on, you are are actually making the medicine less effective. after 2 or 3 days, turn skimmer back on and adjust it carefully. you will need to continually adjust for atleat the next week or so until all of the medicine has been removed and your skimmer function returns to normal.

-medicine only helps with the problem, it doens't correct it.

the chemiclean is the problem.

turn off your skimmer for a few days, and do a water change.

if that doesnt work, run some activated carbon to pull the slime remover from the water.
