Is this product worth it, or should i go with nitrate sponge?

I have used Purigen as well as Pura's Nitrate lock..

IMO, the purigen does a better job of soaking up organics...

What Media would be best to put in my Fluval FX5. I have Biomax and carbon now. I also have a seaclone 150. I need something to get nitrates down.

My rocks fell a month ago, and ever sence then i have had a problem with my nitrates. Before i never went over 10ppm, now its close to 40ppm, and i do a 6 gallon water change every sunday.

Purigen - and check your local PetSmart if you have one - the 250ml bottle was going for about $7 locally here and $12 online

I know Purigen is supposed to be excellent for removing nitrates and other organics, but does anyone know how it compares to GFO for Phosphate? I'm considering running it in my Phosban Reactor when I finish my GFO round.
