Well after a few leaks I have my extreme unit up and running. The only questions I have are these. First the TDS METER on the unit reads 8ppm. The handheld shows 0ppm. Whats up??? Second the TDS alarm does not work at all. It does not come on. Has eveyone elses stop making noise yet? Thanks Chris

Ok after a closer look my dumb@$$ figured out the tds meter. The 8ppm is whats going in and it shows 0ppm coming out. Still have not gotten the tds alarm to come on though.

No on these units it measures tds after the first 3 stages of the five stage process. Also after troubleshooting the tds alarm I think its a bad unit. The batteries are good in it but it wont do a thing. Guess I will have to contact these guys to get a new one.

It's 8ppm going into DI and coming out at 0ppm after DI. My TDS alarm does not work either. From what I was told by the company is that it will only work when your TDS goes up after the DI part.

Wow, I was just answering for you when you did the reply...lol....Anyway, I contacted them while back about the same issue, IF you take the TDS alarm off the unit and stick it in a cup of tap water, it does come on. But the thing I don't get is I thought the green light comes on when you run water through it, but they said that it will come on when your TDS goes up.

Thats what I thought too. Oh well I already wrote them so lets see if they tell me the same thing. Did you test yours in water? Thanks for the info.

Why would the TDS alarm go off? If after the membrane you are getting 8ppm and then after DI you are at 0 .. sounds like all is working perfect and no need for alarms.

Glad you got it hooked up, man.
8PPM after DI sounds right to me, too. Don't forget to waste a couple of gallons to get those preservatives off. :)

Yes I did take it off to test it, when I run it under DI water, the green light comes on, but when I ran it under tap water, the alarm goes off. IF I can run it under DI water to get the green light to come on (Green light means running water, that's what it's meant to be), wouldn't you think that it would come on when we run the system with water going through it??? I guess we'll see once the TDS goes up to see if the alarm even works. Which it does work, but what I mean when it's hooked up through the piping system. I mess with the connector part a bit to see IF I can get the green light to come on, but it does not. Test it, you'll see what I'm talking about. Just take the alarm off your system and stick that end piece into a cup of DI water, then a cup of tap water.
Titanfan, the reason for it is because of that Green Light!!!!! That's the part not making any sense.....
