I recently purchased a Euro-reef skimmer. Older one close to the RS-80 I guess. It does not have a pump. I was all set to get a sedra 3500 modified pump but multiple people have stated they cause heat. What else can I get for the skimmer?

You could try a gen-x 2400 NW. About half the cost. http://www.customaquatic.com/customaquatic/subsubcategorypage.asp?subcatindexid=ps-ac-pm

Im not sure of the flow rate that I need---I cant find the specs on the sedra 3500. Is that comparable?

The genx is about double the gph, would that be to much for the cs-80?

does anyone know if the venturi is the same for the sedra 3500 and the 5000? Someone told me they were but wanted to make sure.
