Order some cheap computer fans from newegg.com . Much cheaper than a chiller, and if you can get away w/o a chiller than why not?

if you are ever near skycraft they have some pretty sweet fans there to. But a lot of people use the walmart clip ons.

I've had the WalMart clip on fan over my sump for a couple months now.
It's lookin pretty nasty.....

I finally broke down and bought a hole saw for my Ice Cap fans.
Next day off I'm going to drill 2 holes in the top of my canopy and wire in the IC's to suck the hot air out.
I need to drop the temp a couple of degrees - hopefully this will work.
I really don't want to break out the chiller.....

hey fuzzy that's funny...because that's the same thing im trying to do.im gonna drill the top of my canopy and add 3 fans.u think this will work?

Well, I drilled 2 holes, each one is 4.5" diameter in my 3/4" canopy - that was fun........
I haven't wired in the fans yet but I can definitely feel the heat rising out of them.
So I'm thinking 2 x 100 cfm fans should do the trick.
I just need to make a set of filter foams for the fans to hopefully reduce the salt build up.

im thinking of putting speaker grilles on the fans to prevent salt build.some of them come with a mesh cover on the inside to protect speaker from dust.

That's pretty much what I'm doing except not using the grille. I'm gluing velcro strips on the fan and sticking speaker grille foam on the intake.
Easy to clean, porous enough to let air flow, and hopefully dense enough to trap the salt.
I'll post pics when I'm done - if it works....

If not - you never saw this thread :D

edit - note to self - must use spell check

Any pc store should have fans around $6.00. I used 2 to pull air in on the sides and 2 to pull air out of the top. The fans are most likely going to be 12v. Go to radio shack and for $24.00 you can get a plug in converter for 110v to 12v.

I bought a box of 30 brand new computer fans off ebay for $15 shipped to my door. No one else bid on them and I got the whole lot for the $3 starting bid. I took 10, used 5 in my canopy and gave the rest to my LFS friend to sell or use.

I got 4 120mm fans on ebay for 25 bucks. they flow 96cfm and are pretty quiet. Just have to get a power adapter at radio shack. They are computer fans. good luck.

I saw 3 or 4 of them in Office Depot in Ormond today, with the discontinued stuff.

They are a seasonal item.
