A week ago I made a temporary refugium in a rubbermaid container. Poured in a bunch of sand, a rock from the tank and some calurpa and sediment infauna from a local aquarist. Placed a 43W cool florescent (sp) 4' light over it. On a 24/7 photoperiod.
The other day I thought I'd be smart and take 10 X 16oz worth of water from the tank to the 'fuge. Waited a few minutes and took the same volume from the 'fuge to the tank. The next day I noticed my water wasn't as clear as it was. I looked closer and saw lots of very small white bugs on the glass and powerhead.
Most less than 1 mm. Like very little sticks of rice.
So..they came from the refugium. Now what?
I scraped some off but they return.
Is this a problem?

Most likely these are beneficial herbivores, I would just leave them. They are also great live food for your fish.

Agreed, I'd say you are the proud parent of a bunch of pods!

Cigar, anyone?
