Does anyone know Where to get the 5g acrylic frag tank that they had up for grabs at the swap last weekend? It was 200bucks with the light and they were hand made. If anyone knows that would be awsome thanks!

I was the one giving the info on the mini display tank. They were made by Geo (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/private.php?s=&action=newmessage&userid=792). Send him a pm.

You mean one of these??

Someone said $200, That's a sweet deal if you ask me. It's worth $200 without the light!
Of course winning one was an even sweeter deal!! :D

I wonder about temp change in this thing when the light comes on. I absolutly love the idea, I just wonder if it should be run to a sump or something to increase water volume. I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the whole tiny self contained frag tank idea, but I would think that bulb puts off some heat in 5 inches of water

I love the design, especially for a swap. I didn't have a chance to checkout the light though, what bulb type was it? Personally, if it was T5 or PC, I wouldn't be concerned at all about the temperature. They don't put off much heat, and there is a ton of surface area.

it's an enclose pc fixture pretty much negligable heat transfer.

Oh I thought I heard someone say it was a double ended halide. Yeah a PC wouldn't be an issue at all. I'm going to build my own with at least 2 maybe 4 t5s. What a great idea. Man that thing is heavy duty also, is that 3/8 or 1/2 inch stuff?

We used to take it to the swaps with a 250w HQI bub over it. No heat issues to speak of, in fact we had to use a heater. The main purpose for this tank is displaying frags for swaps.
