View Full Version : Very high nitrates

I have developed a problem with high nitrates in my 75 gallon reef tank (200). The nitrites test 0, phosphates are nearly zero, pH is 8.4, Calcium is 350, and the specific gravity is 1.023. I know that nitrates are not as harmful as nitrites but 200 is way too high, isn't it? Are there any suggestions for lowering them?

water changes to get them down, cut back on the overfeeding and/or other nutrient introductions to keep them down.

What animals are in the system? Fish won't care about that level of nitrate.
