I'm putting together my christmass list. Should i get the Eheim 1260 or the one step higher for my 17 gallon tank with 20 long sump?

Also should i get two koralia pump 3's or pump 4's?

Thats probably about the right size but I would consider the Ocean Runner 2500 instead. Its more energy efficient meaning less power consumption and less heat gain, it is just as quiet and best of all it costs about half as much. Thye are distributed by Aqua Medic which is one of the oldest names in the business and they hold up well.

if you plan on using this for a sump pump i would step down to a eheim 1250 and get the rest of your flow through powerheads like the koralia you mentioned. Having that much flow go through your sump is more of a headache then its worth on such a small tank.

I have a 30 cube with a ~20 gallon sump and i use an eheim 1250 for the return pump and its just right. Also have a 1260 that is used for a closed loop on the tank. Both pumps are extremely quiet and easy to clean.

I have a 1260 for sale if you decide to go that route.

I've got a 1262 that i'm putting into the 90 gal that i'm getting ready to build. I will be putting in a ball valve to restrict flow and possibly send a little of that restricted flow through my fuge. The eheims are supposed to be energy efficient and quiet.

I also have the 1260 and I love it too. It's quiet and works flawlessly. I have it on a 58g and it pumps up nearly 60 inches then over the edge and splits out two locklines. I get about 300-350 gallons per hour. I recommend it.

Clcik on the red house to see some pics of it in the sump
