maxijet mods + filters

hey guys. i'm looking to purchase a maxijet powerhead..two of them actually. i've noticed from the mods from a google search, that the sponge filter gets eliminated.

i currently have a dinky powerhead with a large filter on it and it seems to do a nice job in keeping my water clear. i wanted to know if there are any mods which allow for sponge filters.

also what type of mods would you guys suggest?
