Mod a Magnum 220 filter to kalk reactor

I am thinking making my Mag220 canister filter to a kalk reactor. Since the impeller pushes the water upward, I will put a "table" on top of it to block the water from pushing up my water line. What do you guys think? or is it a waste of time?
