I'm designing a hood for a new 120 I'm setting up (48x24x24) and I'm trying to figure out if I should go with 2x250w halides or supplement my existing 250w with t5s. I'm in Florida so radiant heat is a concern. I've got a chiller so water temp isn't much of an issue.

Here's my design idea:

Thoughts?

Well since heat rises Id say put the exhaust fans at the top somewhere.
I would also run them both either in or out, but not push pull.

Theres quite a bit of distance from the lights to the tank top? is this for ease of getting in there for maintenance ???

I personally have two 40cfm 12v fans sucking "IN" on one end. (the expensive double ball bearing ones used on PC's as there designed to be quiet) Fans blow along the lights themselves. (4 T5's and 2 96w PC)

And on the other side a "Vent ".

To keep evap down because of the increased surface to air airflow, run the lids. The lids saves me over an inch on my 20gal sump water level in a 12 hour period.
