Well, after months of hearing about it, the turbofloater blue was finally realeased! Now after seeing the price........i could care less.
Here's what it says about it. Supposedly the skimmer pulls 30scfh which is amazing for a true hot skimmer but come on now....who's going to fork out that kind of cash for a hot.

The Turboflotor Blue 3000 is designed for use as a Hang-On skimmer, with only the OR3700 pump and the I/O fittings residing inside the aquarium, or as a freestanding skimmer inside or outside the sump.
At only 23” high, it is sized to fit nearly every standard aquarium cabinet. All the characteristic Turboflotor details are here, from the conical riser inside the foam cup to the Needle Wheel technology. But this is a great new design that gives you the one-pump hang-on convenience of a T1000 Multi SL but nearly all the power of a T5000 Shorty.
The new shape creates a larger volume for more skimming capacity as well as skimmate collection.
We think you are going to love this one! The T3000 Blue is manufactured using high quality acrylic.

* Height: 23”
* Footprint: 14” x 7”

$519.95

well, it was a nice thought, but they are on crack if they think anyone is going to pay $500 to look at a massive, loud, crappy 3700 in their tank.
for a $500 hob, you have to be a sexy skimmer...lol
and this is not sexy...they can keep the 30scfh.

god, someone please come out with a hang on skimmer worth a damn, UNDER $500!!!
and make it sexy!:hmm5:

I'm thinkin the octo and deltec to have a great idea with the pump inside the skimmer. I'm thinking more along the lines of a hot bk skimmer type, where the pump is below the reaction chamber with no head or pressure to deal with. Why can't this be done?

A DIY HOB skimmer is needed :D, And koraltek I tried the genx impreller on the resun, it seemed to overpower the resun and made it choke and spit like its having problems spinning it.

The resun is 225gph pump, its smaller than a genx1000

But both of them use the same wattage and the stock resun is also 296gph if they dont have the needle wheel impreller. Also the genxs magnet is super strong compared to the resuns.

The biggest problem i see with a large hot skimmer is just that. You can't hang a large skimmer on the back. Could you imagine the weight of a octo 200 on the back of your 125g. Just to much. Thats why you don't see many nice hot skimmers, that and most everyone eventually gets a sump. The shelf behind your tank with a recirc is the most logical imo.

You can't base that off of impeller's being interchangable. You can't throw a sicce 2500 impeller in a QO3000 even though there the same pump, just as you can't throw a octo 500 into a wp500 as they are the same wattage and gph but not the same pump. I can go on and on. There s always very slight differences in magnet size, width or what not. There are very few pump's that are interchangable like that.
