Kalkwasser as Make up...or supplement?

I just finished building my Kalk stirrer and I was wondering how people have been running them. There are two ways I was considering doing this:


1) Add a certain amount after lights go off using a timer and aqualifter.


2) Add using Float switches w/ relay as an auto top off.



Any recommendations?

I dose Kalk 24/7 wich equals 5 gallons every 2 days.

i use it for all topoff waterc dosed through a Tunze Calcium Dispenser and a Tunze Osmolator.

Just a cheap used dosing pump.I fill a 5 gallon jug with my mixture then add the line in the top from the pump and let it go.:) You dont need anything fancy to do this.

I dose 24/7 using a kalk reactor & the Tunze osmolator like MattG.The osmolator is pretty expensive,but very reliable & accurate.HTH

I do the same. I evaporate approximately the same amount from day to day, so no float switches and such needed here. I just have my AC jr. turn on the peri pump (aquamedic) a few minutes an hour (a regular timer could do the same). If after a few weeks, the sump is a bit low, I just manually add some water.

I do the same as well. Have the kalk mixed in a reactor that is stirred every 4 hours, then run an AquaMedic Aquadoser 3 hours/day (1hr*d times/day) for approximately 1G which is about what I evaporate.

No reactor or stirrer, just the old fashioned way but same as most here. Drip it in 24/7. Probably accounts for 50% of my evap. top off. About 3 gallons every 5 days and then 1 gallon each of a diluted 2 part every 5 days and another gallon of a diff. supplement every 5 days. 90 gallon aquarium.

It seems the concensus is use Kalk as my total make up. Looks good....
