Alright so once again I got to thinking about how to improve the way my sump is set up. Had a thought of moving and improving the refuge area...but here's my problem and question. In order to do what I want it requires installing a piece of glass to make a partition for refugium..

1. What is the best way to do this in a full and operating sump?
2. If I could drain sump briefly and silicon in the glass, what is the shortest time someone has let the silicon seal before putting water back in?
3. If I don't put any pressure on the glass once siliconed and water added back in sump, will it cure under water?

so, its a 29 gallon sump. is it just a homemade one or custom?

If homemade why not find a cheap used 29 gallon and just build another one, seems pretty cheap

I'd agree with kd, if possible go buy another 29 and baffle it as desired. I have filled sumps after 2 days of siliconing baffles but I believe it doesnt really reach full strength till about a week. Silicone is some strong stuff and if you screw up on a baffle its a you know what to take out and clean up lol. You'll be fine

Unfortunately I would have to drain and take down tank to put new sump in it. A 30" sump on a 36" tank only goes in through back of stand which I had to cut even bigger when installing..so not an option..Does super glue work glass on glass?
