Considering upgrading to a 90 and building it into a wall. The only good display wall I have backs up to my garage. If I build a very narrow (closet type) room inside the garage, insulate it and use exterior grade doors would it be safe to house my tank and sump in that room?

Any concern you can think of? (car exhaust fumes, temp swings)

Would access the space with large dbl doors opening out to give myself plenty of room to work. Is anybody using there garage as a mechanical room?

To vent heat out of the room you might want to run a fan ducted out of the side of the house/ garage. I have seen this done on a lot of threads. The double doors im not sure on. There will be gas and co2 fumes in the garage. Also code is any outlet in the garage has to be 4 feet or more from the floor. ( so gas fumes wont egnite). So unless your going to build a platform that your stand will sit on so that everything will be at the 4 foot mark. Im thinking with a storm door or any door that seals you could get away with it not being a garage anymore. ( the new room) I love that idea of an inwall. If you need help I would be glad to lend a hand.

I foresee a few problems:

Heat in the summer cold in the winter, fumes dust, dirt, salt from winter. It wouldn't be good at all.

I would build your fish room as an extension with no door to the garage only fish room to house door and maybe even an in wall a/c for summer and add on to your current heating system for winter with its own zone. Then it shouldn't have any reaction from garage as it would't be any different than a house w/ attached garages. Just make sure its insulated rocked and taped.

Hmmm, you guys are talking me out of this...for some very good reasons. Thanks, I'll have to think of another option.

Jim (j8851) how is the basement sump working out. Maybe I can go that route.
