I'm in the process of setting up a new tank. I've become rather tired of dealing with externally plumbed pumps and intricate sump designs. So, I just want to go with a simple in-sump return pump. I've narrowed down my choices to the OR 3500 and the Quiet One 4000. They seem to be fairly similar in terms of output. The QO is rated at 15W less than the OR, but I'm under the impression that many people have issues with it. Which one should I pick? My main concerns are heat, lastability, and noise (in more or less that order).

aninjaatemyshoe – I’m using a QO 3000 for a return right now. It worked great for the first year but after that I have had to replace three ceramic shafts (broken while disassembling the pump) and replaced the impellor twice. It just will not restart if it looses power. I would not recommend one and am also looking at the OR as a replacement.
