I have a new yellow headed jaw fish (one week). He immediately started making burrows close to rocks which he stayed in until last night! He seemed a little less timid just before the lights went out last night and again this morning. I'm little worried though that I've never seen him eat. Anybody have experience with this fish and suggestions about feeding, etc. Are they primarily nocturnal? thanks for your help. Beth

Beth, Congrats!!they are a awesome fish!! Whenever you can, when he is out of his tunnel offer him some mysis shrimp in a turkey baster blown his way. (turn off your pumps first, gives him a chance to eat) Mine learned really quickly what came out of "the turkey baster"!! and also seemed to respond to me at the glass. If you have other large fast fish...feed them at a different corner first. Hopefully he is one of the first in??? He eats only out of the water column (not on the substrate) so you have to "get" the food to him.
Good luck and keep us posted!!
