I am still selling a used MH 175watt electronic icecap ballast. I bought it a few weeks ago from JMC but never hooked it up or used it. Comes with a wire harness.

Selling it because I'm going back to T5's. It's the blue brick style ballast for those of you wondering.

asking $60 which is what I paid. Prefer cash, but would consider trades.

Thanks.

Dave, just wondering if you're going all T5's - if so shy the change back?

Yeah I'm going all T5's. My first light fixture on that 50 gallon I sold you was a TEK T5 light and I loved it. Problem is when I upgraded I had to get a longer light. I found a great deal on a MH retro kit, but the reflector doesn't spread out the light evenly and there are a lot of low light areas. Not sure if it's enough for my clam and anem.

I'm going back to T5 for several reasons.

1) I like the multiple bulb choices
2) much lower power consumption
3) retro kit will fit right in my canopy opposed to lumenarcs have to be ghetto rigged somehow. Can hang from my concrete ceiling. Well, I can, but don't want to.
4) Corals I had then, and still have now, looked better under the T5's.
5) don't have to change bulbs as often.
6) since my tank is so long, I would probably need 2 MH which I don't want to do.

These reasons are more than enough justification for me to go back to T5's =)

whoops, reason #6 was suppose to say 3 MH's.

PM's reguarding ballast have been replied to.

yup it would. That's what I was going to use it with on a lumenarc, but just changed my mind. Wanted to keep my canopy.

Did you get or are you getting a retro fit for you canopy? You should post a before and after picture of your tank. If retro's. are you using IC ballast and the IC reflectors?

You boys got a little further to go before you can call yourselves "Chalice whores", you need to start with a dedicated tank first ;-)

In a sense you are right, but at the same time, one can be a whore for something, but can't afford it. Hence me being a want-to-be chalice whore.

Nice chalices are quite pricey

I will be getting a 4 bulb icecap retro soon. Later on I will get another 60" bulb if I feel the need. Not powered by icecap ballasts tho. I don't need them overdriven for my short tank. I have posted some tank shots in the past, when I get my new lights I'll post another one.
