Here's pics of some fish Joe (poknsnok) gave me today. These are in a 46 bowfront that Laz loaned me, a female Naso Tang, a Royal Gramma, and a Chromis. Pics aren't too good. Fish are still hiding.

These 4 Lyretail Anthias are in the 50 with the Vlamingi.

Everybody is eating this morning. That's a good sign.

Nice selection of fish. I had a naso in my last tank. He was cool. I like the lyre tail anthias. I want to get some in my tank as well.

Everyone was looking great this evening prior to lights out. The Vlamingi eats everything. The Naso is eating Nori and large algae pellets. The Royal Gramma is eating frozen Mysis and chasing small Salifert pellets; not sure if it's eating any pellets. The Chromis is eating everything but Nori. The Lyretails are eating small pellets and mysis. I have Formula 1 and 2 flakes and 4 varieties of frozen. That should keep everyone happy until I mix up a home brew. It will consist of a variety of fresh seafood from the Land and Sea Market on Lithia-Pinecrest, some Formula 1 and 2 flakes, some Salifert pellets, and a little Selcon. All that goes in the blender...just lightly shredded...and then frozen. Obviously the Tangs will still get lots of Nori and Algae pellets, and some red algaes when I can start growing some in my refugium.

Mike,
Looking very good, sounds like everyone is happy. Could you tell me what the red algae is called - I can't remember and would also like to grow some for my tang.

I'm trying to figure that out also. I think Marcye has it in her sumps to feed tangs.

Hey Mike how long before you start loading up on coral?

Fish from QT will start going into the 390 on October 27, starting with the Naso and ending with the Vlamingi going it on November 10. Then I go to Peru for a week. When I get back, I'll start loading up the 50 QT with SPS.

I personally don't like using pellets, they seem to not all get eaten and I've heard of people having problems with PO4 due to pellets

I think the red algae is Gracilaria pacifica, It's the one I see recommended.

I drop the algae pellets in one at a time. I drop one in as far away from the Naso or the Vlamingi, whichever tank I'm feeding, and watch the fish high speed swim over and gobble it up. Then I drop one in at the opposite end of the tank and the fish will zoom to that pellet. I repeat this several times in the am and pm. I do the same thing with the small pellets for my Anthias and Chromis.
