I have these little white starfish in my wife's tank. They look like tiny brittle stars. They are everywhere. On the rocks the sand, everywhere. Does anyone know if these are safe? LMK.

Harmless. They come out mostly at night, so you'll have many more than you ever see. Have dozens in my fuge(s) and tanks. Great addition to the clean up crew.

Any idea how you got them? I'm looking for a good source of live sand to get lots of helpful critters like them. I really like the sand swap idea, but I don't know if I can wait two more months. Yes, I tend to be impatient on some things or according to my husband, many things. Anyway, congrats. They sound like a cool addition.

Try to control the impatience as it applies to reef tanks. It can cause disaster. The slower you go, the safer you are. Almost always.

Do you still have the grouper in there also?

I'm surprised you see yours. I know I have some but never see them out in the open. Every time I get a frag or something from dave that was on the bottom of one of his tanks I get more little stars.

I recently had some Cerith snails that had babies and they are everywhere.

Mine are everywhere. All over my rocks. I got rid of the grouper a while ago.

Ah Doc, the voice of reason. I am actually going slow and planning first. The is one reason I am setting up the frag tank before I attempt to get my big tank. You are right that it is the best way to go. It just drives me nuts sometimes! BTW, the stand is nearly finished. I will be staining and sealing it today. I'm going to wait until I can get a router to put the doors on.

Known as "micro stars" . Very cool little critters...
