My bio cube recently finished its cycle and I was wondering what is a safe amount of fish that would be able to inhabit the tank without a huge protein spike. This is of course with having bi-weekly water changes.

My opinion would be not to add more than 3-4 small fish. I have a tailspot blenny, firefish, 5 hermit crabs, 3 snails and I plan to add maybe one more fish and the rest will be coral.

3-5 fish depending on size/type of fish you plan on keeping

5 fish in a 14g!! :eek1:

as others have said, three is about your max. I'm running a NC12g and I've got a tailspot blenny and a true perc, and I think thats just about maxed.

If you read what it said, I stated depending on the fish.
You could easily house 5 gobies.
It's not like I meant five "big fish"
You could have 3- 2 clowns, 1 firefish for example or
5- 5 small gobies

5 small gobies would definitely be fine for the bioload in a tank that size. However, I feel they'd be fighting over space.. especially considering they are from similar species (which almost always = fighting for territory)

It kinda just depends on your luck.
It's kinda like a hit miss kinda thing.
Some gobies actually enjoy other gobies company.

Plus lots of gobies are found in pairs in the wild, like the "4 wheel drive" goby.

I'm not saying that I would do it, just that it is possible to do so.

I plan on having two fish in my 20 gallon, but that's just me.
