Is it safe to drill these holes?

My sump is too big to fit inside the stand for my tank. I am going to plumb it through the wall and into the spare room behind, my question: is it safe to drill 1 1/4 inch holes on the outside corners and a 1 3/4 inch hole in the center indicated in the picture below? or will this cause the stand to become weak?

I would run a 2x4 under the point where the holes are going to be. Other than that, I don't see a problem. I have done worse to a stand and wasn't too worried about it. :D
