I am setting up a 29 gallon fowlr and have some pump questions. I will be using a 20 gallon long for my sump and I have a siphen driven overflow. I just bought a used turboflotor 1000 skimmer. The skimmer has a ocean runner 2500 pump.
1) do I need a secondary power head to pump the water into the skimmer or should I just try and hook the overflow tube straight into the skimmer? Maybe I just need a curved tube to put on the water input tube so it wouldn't be sticking out of the water and it would suck water right out of the sump???????
2) What size return pump should I get assuming this sump would be directly under the main tank?
3) Is it safe to assume that because my skimmer uses the ocean runner 2500 that I should get another ocean runner 2500 for the main tank??
4) What is the best way to know for sure that the return pump won't be to big or fast for my overflow and flood my tank?
