anyone want to give away some free pink pom pom xenia?

I know this stuff grows like weeds for most people, and it is my absolute favorite coral.

anyone have 4-6 stalks they could part with?

Preferably in the parma/cleveland area.

hm. thanks, Let me see what I can do with the pom pom first. A coral that is bright pink and "normally" never stops clapping... it's just so surreal watching a large patch of it.

I have some your welcome to if you don't mind waiting until the Sept. C-SEA meeting. It is the shorter pulsing variety; usually see it sold as 'red sea xenia'.

Yes, when I first started the "project" I used suger glue gel and attached maybe 6 pieces on the back of the tank.....that was about 5-6 months ago...now it spreads and sticks all by itself....the only bad thing is it is sticking to everything back there, the overflows, the heater.....

Very cool. I am mostly attaching to rocks myself. But I do not have xenia.
I have a few zoanthid frags not, Just starting the corals. Am going to only go soft with my set up.
Xenias are soft are the not?

xenias are soft.
mine does ok for awhile then looks like crap... then looks better then.... its an endless cycle for me.
mine hasn't spread at all yet. is that a blessing or curse?

I want my entire back wall totally covered in the pink pom pom!

So if anyone has a some stuck to some rubble rock, that would be even better so I can lean it up against the back glass.

what kind of flow do you want to have for xenia? can they be blowing in the flow?

no, from my experience, low flow is the best for these. If they are blowing in the current all the time, they aren't going to be able to pulse how they should.

Their stalks and heads should remain motionless. (there will still be flow, but not enough to push them over)

I have some waving hand anthelia that will cover anything and loves the current. It grows over the back wall of my tank and the overflows. I have to cut it off there sometimes. I also have used GSP to cover the other overflow. It looks like a field of tall waving grass when the current hits it.

I will probably be cutting some this weekend and setting up my new frag tub. I will post pics when I actually get them ready.

I like xenia but it grows too fast and takes over my tank so I have to keep a small patch and constantly trim it back.

On my old reef tank I had anthelia and polyps growing across the entire back and sides of my tank. I absolutely loved it begin all over

mine get huge flow and have no issues i think these are very adaptable corals.
