I have a 75 main tank and a 30 gallon sump. What should i get for my return pump. Its inline and has 3/4" fittings. It Has about a 4-6 foot of head. I would even consider buying someones old pump if it has some good life left to it.

lots of options here.
This is what I ran on my 75 reef:

note: LG pumps need to be oiled every now and then. Not a big deal IMO.

I ran a blueline 1100HD for my 75 and was very pleased. The tank was in my room and the pump was super quiet. It was driving two returns that were each 3/4. The fittings on the pump however are 1 inch.

What is the optimal turnover rate? What are the problems with going with too large of a pump. If it helps its a 75 All Glass single corner overflow.

The fitting/pipe size of the overflow will determine the maximum drain rate and therefore the maximum operating pump flowrate. Remember, once the drain rate is calculated, then you select a pump that at 4-6 feet of head will provide that flowrate. Don't be too concerned with the pump's 0 head flowrate...

I needed a submersible and used a Mag 5 and then a Mag 9.5, the 9.5 needed a second overflow and think the Mag 7 would work very well if a single overflow is used.

So Quiet one 3000 would be ok?

Thanks for the recommendations everybody. Does anyone know what the flow rate of the tank would be. Its a 75 all glass with single corner over flow. I just want a work horse of a pump. Must have 3/4" plumbing connections.
