Hey all , just moved over here from Northern California. Working on getting my 100 gallon set back up with a few minor pump problems but it is getting cycled now. After looking at the website i made to keep track of everything I forgot just how beautifull it was and really want to get it going again.

The only thing stopping me right now is a broken shaft on the Rio14HF i used for the protein skimmer. Other than that the tank is cycling and I am cycling the 100+ pounds of LR ( was dry LR now ) man am I glad I brought it with me LR is about $3.00 more a LB here than in Norcal.

Wondering if anyone has a few cups of live sand to help seed my tank and get it going.

I am located in Spring Hill up by the saturn plant ( about the only thing I know for a landmark so far ) off of Port Royal and 396.

Not sure if I am going with a Agress tank or a mixed again but it will figure itself out like it has.:D

Yeah, welcome to Nashville (Nashvegas)!

Avalanche- He meant to say Nashvegas, which seems to be the pet name for Nashville in these parts.

Welcome to the area. Spring Hill isn't real close to me (at all), but if you don't get an offer from someone closer, I can find a way to help you out. Good luck getting the tank back on it's feet.

Well, there's KnoxVegas, too. No MemVegas or ChattaVegas, so Nashville and Knoxville are both pretty darn special:D.

I am right down the road from you but, unfortunately I don't think I have enough sand even for a couple cups of it. If can help with anything else let me know.

Hey Avalanchewolf! Didn't know you were moving to TN. I am in the Mid-TN Avalanche club but not very involved in it lately.

Well you did offer to show me that tank some time :P

Yah we moved about a month ago. Travelingman had flown us down for MCM in May and when we went back we started the works for moving out here.

You better get out to a Meet soon ! Fact Trav and I are headed to NC this weekend for a huge gtg with Hugz and JohnB where we are gonna mod the new 07 we picked up. Pics are in the MTAC are of the TN site. We did the Craftsman race as Nashville super speedway this last weekend and looks like we will be particapating in th busch series race in march or may when ever it is. check MTAC for details.

We are gonna have to hook up and dust off the plane also and go flyin soon.

TitansFan -
Thanks for the offer even a little bit will help get this cycle going. Just ordered my impeller so should be here soon and I can get the protein skimmer going and I have a batch of live rock going in a tub.

ALMOST considering a small shark tank but gotta do my research first. Problem is I am really rigged for corals more than fish.

Big hello! Me and Titansfan are real close seeing as how Spring Hill is not that big. I am on New Port Royal if you just ride port royal up you will pass my house eventually, about 10 mins I would say. The MTRC webmaster is also moving in a new home real close to that same area about now I would think.
I have plenty of sand but low level Ick that flares up from time to time on my powder blue tang so I would be afraid to offer for fear of spreading it. I have Tons of micro stars I could grab and spaggetti worms if you wanted to risk it or wasn't planning on adding fish any time soon. Feel free to stop by anytime to meet a fellow salt nut and see my tank. It is always a work in progress though!!

Mike ya gotta show me where I can my some %20 Nitro for the savage.

Angela - gonna have to hook up one of these days so i can check the tank. now that the kids are in school my 4 y/o daughter and I are pretty bored during the day. but we did manage to find our first LFS called FINS yesterday and i bought all their salt and sand lol

Nice fish corals ehhh but it was the first visit.

sure there are some more stores around here to find.

DMBillies
08/14/2007, 10:48 PM
I think all of the local stores are listed on our website (http://www.mtrc.org/). Driving around finding them is a good way to get to know the area. I generally split time between the Critter and Emerald Bay (EBay in these parts). Ebay would be a bit of a drive for you, but the Critter shouldn't be too bad.

Welcome to the Ville. Youll def like the critter & ebay more than fins but theyre all good stores. I can hook up up with a little sand were kinda a little ways apart but i got it u need it.

Emerald bay is the best place for salt if you are a club member. I have a 4 year old daughter also so we have even more in common! Also a 6 year and 15 month old daughters. My little girl takes dance in Spring Hill if yours is into that. There are also 2 stores in Columbia that have SW but they are not real big. One is BY FAR better than the other. Also Emerald bay and Aquatic critter are about the same drive distance for us from where we are. Both great stores with a little different stuff to offer. Finns is a real nice store also to be so close to just pop in when you are out running errands. We are lucky to have so many local stores to shop at in middle TN! Just PM me if you ever wanna just drop in.

I usually go flying in Columbia so it isn't too far from you. I have been mainly flying helicopters lately. I went to IRCHA last weekend and that was a blast. Probably the best place to get fuel for your truck is Hobbytown in Cool Springs. They are right off of Cool Springs Blvd. in the Crye Lyke center.

Well i know where i am going to be tomorrow after the kids go to school :P

I tried helis 2x , first was a nitro Hawk and it scared the :eek2: out of me worryied about loosing my legs

the 2nd was a Electric CP and just took so much attention to fly I never was able to really enjoy it. But i still have 2 of my trainers my other 2 planes ( RV4 and Cessna 337 Skymaster) were lost in the house fire that was set to cover up the robbery of the stuff that was due to be sent after we got here. Oh well they needed too much work anyways :P Just mad I lost my RO/DI unit and my MRC MR-1 I have just bought off a reefer. But we are safe and that is all that matters.

I had gotten into the nitro trucks since we had a track about 40 mins away and it was fun but not sure if they have one out here yet.

Can't you guys/gals buy a better vehicle than a Chevrolet... ;)
Maybe like a Nissan...

Avalanche Wolf
08/16/2007, 08:49 PM
This is actually our 5th one in the family. We are slightly addicted to the vehicle :P

It is a 07 Silver birch Z71 with the stainless steel trim and 2 tone seats. We have a lot in store as we are building a show street truck this time around. Our last one was a off road / car show beauty( the one in the avatar with my wife).

We have some friends in the national club we are going to be visiting in the next month in KY maybe we can hook up over some coffee , well iced coffee in this heat :P

Well first off might I say congrats on post 1,000 :D

Although I know you are only joking around let me say this.....

Well considering GM is who has paid the bills for our family for the last ten years and if it wasnt for this truck we would have not met so many people in the national club for Chevy Avalanches which has Total 28,789 members right now as of this post.

To put that into persective -

The National Corvette Owners Association (NCOA) started in 1975 and currently has approximately 18,000 members. The Chevy Avalanche Fan Club started in 2001

When we got to TN we had very little that made it after the fire in CA and the national club came together and people from all over the country have donated items/money for our kids , my wife and myself. Heck we wouldnt of even had money for all the school clothes and supplies for the boys if it wasnt for them. Most of these people we have never met in person but only on the boards.

Dont get me wrong I know you are only joshin with us but when was the last time you heard of a Nissan truck club doing that for someone ?

The avalanche community are more than just owners with a simular vehicle , we are a family.
:D

Actually my wife drives a Nissan :) But comparing the AV to a nissan truck is not a fair comparison. The AV is actually a suv.

Avalanche Wolf
08/20/2007, 10:24 PM
actually it is considered by the automotive industry as a SUT Sport Utility Truck. I have a 6ft bed with the Midgate up with the seats and midgate down I have a 8 ft. SUV dont have beds

Caddy EXTs in our club are called SLUTs

I thought they were just a Tahoe with some fancy stuff on them that in the end still leaves you too upside down to trade out of them after you can't afford the gas ....
:X
ooops sorry

I get 17mpg. Not too bad for a truck this big. BTW, what does that titan get? :) Tahoe? Where did you get that from. It is based on the Suburban frame. Rides smooooth.

Well apparently this thread has turned into bash on people that own chevys. I came here to find the same community i was involded in when i was in Northern California in the MARS group for reefers.

Looks like a came to the wrong place. Enjoying your bashing , I wont be a part of it.

sorry i was just playing around
did not mean any harm in it

oh and Michael I think the AV is bigger than a Titan. I am embarrassed to say what the Titan gets in few mileage compared to the AV not to mention the issues they have had with the truck when it first came out. :(

Avalanche Wolf, don't take it the wrong way. I know these guys and they weren't trying to offend. This is a great club and they really are friendly.

Titansfan, I just checked and it looks like the Avalanche weighs close to 1,000 pounds more than a Titan crew cab. The Avalanche definately isn't for everyone. It fits my needs pretty well though.

TitansFan
08/21/2007, 01:37 PM
Weighs 1000 lbs more and still gets better gas than a Titan.. Nissan really needs to work on their V8 fuel mileage.

My brother is the general manager of a chevy store here in nashville. He drove home the other day a black Avalanche with a big brush guard on front and chrome wheels. The dealership had spiffed it up some. Man was it sharp looking. They were going to put on a lift kit and tint the windows next on it. I will try and get pics when they do if you want to see.
