Just picked up a skimmer from Loc a few days ago and got everything adjusted. So far... tons of small tiny bubbles and very calm due to the bubble plate and neck size. Skimmer is still currently breaking in and I know it'll just get better. Thanks again Loc! Here's some pics of it in action... keep in mind, it has only been running for a day in the pics so it hasn't even broken in. Please excuse the messy sump area...

Oh yeh, forgot to add that its currently being driven by a quiet one 3000 pulling in approx 25lpm of air and recirculated by an eheim 1262 NW pulling about 13-15 lpm.

I must add that the build of the skimmer is top notch as well. All the seams are perfect! Can't wait till its fully broken in.

I'll try to get one, but its pretty big... 28 inches tall with an 8 inch body and 6 inch neck.

Looking good Yinger & nice skimmer Loc! Is the QO or Eheim meshed? That column is FULL of bubbles :eek1:

Nice skimmer, Loc.

Does having a fat neck help with skimming?

One question. Ying, with that big fan blowing at the water, is the chiller still turning on when MH are on? I know you have an ATO so evap is not an issue.

Yinger nice skimmer, you like it better than the BM250? I'm looking to replace mine, hopefully I find a skimmer I like at RAP.

Thanks John, the QO is meshed and the eheim has the Euroreef needlewheel in it.

Hoang, the neck helps with the turblulence... if it was skinnier, it would be too turbulent to do any good. The chiller still turns on, but the fan prolongs the temp from rising too quickly...

RB, yeh I like it better because the ati's reaction chamber was only 6 inches and in a 21 inch body. Don't get me wrong, i've seen tons of pics with nice skimmate, but it didn't work for me is all I'm saying... This one is not as turbulent due to the long neck and larger reaction chamber.

You mind pming me what the skimmer cost you. I personally think the BM250 is a POS, I might have to sell it at a loss.

so what is the dimension of the new skimmer ? any info ? is that a black o ring at the neck ?

loc01

Yes it has O rings, foot print 14"X16", 8" OD cast acrylic tube 28" tall, inside it has another chamber to reduce the turbulent looks like BK style. One genx 4100 is good (look in the picture the bubbles pretty dense) but you can certainly add another pump to extreme the performance if you wish.
