What bulb are you using over your refugium? Mine burnt out and the store I got it from no longer carries them. I was using one like MELEV. Any help locating one is welcome. Thanks Chris

I order my melev bulbs from 1000bulbs.com - 5100k version (http://www.1000bulbs.com/product.php?product=28582)

Is there anything special about the melev bulbs? I just use compact fluorescent floodlights from home depot.

I use a flourescent plant bulb as well. I have tried Melev's bulb once before and IMO the flourecent plant bulb blows it out of the water as far as cheato growth.

I got a bulb at lowes yesterday that I had never seen them carry before. I think it was a sylvania and called a "project bulb". 23w compact florescent labeled as full spectrum with a color temp of 5000K.
I am using one on my fuge currently.

I've used the melev bulbs and they are good full spectrum compact fluorescent bulbs but I don't think there is anything unique about them. They may run around the 5100-5600K range but I would say any CP bulb that other folks are having success with would work.

I totally agree with that.
