Can a Mg level of 1000 cause alk to swing as much as a point in 24 hours? Just wondering why I keep seeing my alk move around so much. It started a week ago at 10, to 9, then to 8 from 9 the day before. I am testing every 24 hours at the same time period.

You sure you're Calcium Reactor is working properly..................??
Mag should be a bit higher (I keep mine @ 1250), but I dont think it would cause that big of an alk swing.......

I don't know. How can I check if it's working properly. Co2 bubble count? Effluent out? I almost though about turning off the reactor completely - been having alk swing issues.
The reactor is running on a controller set at 6.3, where it will go to 6.4 and turn on the co2. I calibrated the probe a few weeks ago for it. The effluent out is moderate drip, will count today. The Co2 is also pretty moderate as well - get the count at lunch.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'mnot sure .....................I don't run a calcium reactor.......lol
I was just looking at your equipment & figured an inoperative CR might be your problem................
I run a kalk stirrer & have to dose 25 ml of 2 part daily............alk stays at 9.6-10.0 & calcium at 400-440.
Good luck!!

Oh well, I kinda agree that the CR might be the issue also.
Anyone else feel freet o chime in. Thanks!
