If anybody has been religiously watching shark week on discovery channel they know what tonic immobility. To describe it my best: You touch or tickle the sharks snout which triggers the things that detect electromagnetic waves and pretty much puts them to sleep. Has anybody tried this on their sharks? what was it like? Im eager to hear more about this.

Tonic Immobility has also been used by some vets at major public Aquariums to help reduce the stress of physical examinations on their sharks.

As for what the guy was doing - he learned how to read the shark's body language - which helps reduces his chances of being attacked.

But still I wouldn't really try this with any aggressive species - such as Great White, Bull or Tiger.
