I found this hitchhiker under a 14 lb piece of LR that makes a little cave area. It is impossible to get a clear picture without moving all my rock so I did the best I could and cleaned it up somewhat in photoshop. All the white areas look like little polyps and they form these valleys like a brain and put out these orange hairs. They are not quite as orange as the photo makes them look. I have good flow it the area and they thing must be spreading fast because Ive only had my tank set up for a few months.

Really fuzzy pic. I'm gonna guess colonial tunicates though...

Yep, I agree with SDguy.

What should I do about these? They are spreading too fast. Can they negatively impact my reef inhabitants?

Don't do anything, they're not invasive.

Thats good. I cant find any pictures on the internet of a similar species. I don't know if this is rare or not but if anyone wants some Ill scrape some off and send it. I don't know if this stuff would even survive being super glued onto a rock like coral does.

BTW nice Mandarin. Does he stay towards the front of you tank? Mine hangs out in the back all the time.:(

Thanks, he's out almost all the time and he even comes over and pokes around the area when I'm messing with things in the tank.
