Well, I seen so many pics of maroons and I am curious just what color are they. Do they come in dark brown or red? And wheres a good spot to hunt down the red ones?

I'd start with all the local fish stores.. If you can't find any there I'm sure there are online vendors who have them...

Thanks for the tip Charles, I went yesterday and only saw a redfin fairy wrasse up stairs, it didnt look to good. Its tail looked like some fish took a bite out of it. Hmm Ocean treasure I have to look that up. I didnt see a lubbocks wrasse. When I went there I was following Mark around. Chris was out. Oh did you get your leopard wrasse?

Its in the downstairs tanks.... BTW- the wrasses at Ocean Treasures are for the same price as well.. around 19.99 or so... I was going to get both filamented and possum but decided to get a German green bodied blue polyp SPS and white polpys pipe organ ( look like white daisys , pretty... hahhaah )

Aww, When I went down with Mark I didnt see any wrasses, he told me they were hiding in the sand, which I thought was werid, since I waas told fairy, flasher wrasses hide in rocks. When did you go? I went on sunday.

As the Maroon Clown ages......it darkens. As we all do, it fades with time. If I remember correctly, the one at the Steinhart was nearly brown.

Hmm Thanks for the info dot, I didnt know age cause colors to change. So either ways they will end up like that right? If so thats alright. Learned something new :)

Monday afternoon, All wrasses have the tendancy to burry in the sand for protection as well..

As for Maroons I wouldnt deal with them again.. they are VERY territorial and bigger ones can/will kill other aquarium inhabitants.. they can at times also bite the heck out of you when bigger.. they are the meanest of the clowns.... I doubt it would be good for a small tank like yours.

When I have time I'll send you links of cool NANO/small tank fish that would do well in your tank...

HI Charles! Robin had a great specimen. It been a month and so far so good. my clowns are loving it of course, and luckily the female doesn't abuse it. I'll try to post pics once I get enough PM's on RC.

How's your tank been? Anymore anem of yours clone again?

I had a fairly large maroon clown. He terrorized my 40 gallon. He was strong enough to knock over and rearrange my corals, especially the new ones.Found a lot of them upside down. I traded him for a mimic tang. I would stay away from them, especially in a small tank.

Just about every lfs has maroon clowns. It just depends on what size and color you want. For this week Aquatic Central, Ocean Trasures, Lucky Ocean, Ultimate Aquarium, Aqua Traders has a maroon clown. And I think only Ulimate Aquarium and Ocean Treasures has a gold bar. Natural life in Sunnyvle has both as well.

A lot of folks that I know that had/Have maroons know that they are territorial/ can be a big bully, will rearranged things in the tank to their liking.... etc....

point here Tommy for you size tank, I would not do it and get only timid or nano fish for now...

I'm going to pip up in here.

Many maroons/tomato type clown fish will get almost a dark brown/black as they get older. The bright reds that you will see in the store/online are most likely of fairly young juvenile species and you shouldn't base that off what they will look like in a year's time or so.

Only reason I mention this is that you mentioned wanting a "red" fish in another post. And as such, I'd definitely skip on the clowns.
