Let's see, U-Haul, Budget, Enterprise, Public Storage, I know there's a million more. I'll just need an approximately 10' truck for a day. Which place is the most reasonably priced and easy to deal with?
Thanks.

I rented a pickup from the U-Haul / storage place on Pico (or maybe it was Olympic) in West LA for about $25 for the day. Very easy.

I used uhaul a couple months ago to move some things. I think it was a 10 feet truck. It was like 19.95/day plus 0.80/mile. Maybe each location will have different rates. Hope this helps.

All of the truck rental places you mentioned are probably your best bet. Some Home Depot's also rent out trucks, but they rent by the hour w/o mileage charges. You would have to do the math to figure out which would work out better in your favor.

U-Haul.......................and when in doubt about the size you need, always upgrade to the next size up. It's only $10 per day more. If you get a truck that's too small, you'll pay for that $10 in mileage making a second trip, not to mention the time a second trip would take. Everytime I help someone move, I tell them to get the 24 ft............it's only 39.99 a day......

Thanks for the advice!
U-Haul is fine for intown or short haul. Longhaul I'd definitely go Ryder.bbb

U-Haul has been by far the worse experience ever. Customer service is beyond terrible, they have uneducated workers who need college more than ever.
They also have dirty trucks, trailers, etc. Penske is the best, a premium yes, but after numerous events, where I have needed a truck they have never let me down, and everything is clean, also you get a AAA discount too.

I also had a bad experience with u-hual. They will not hesitate to tell you that you have a truck reserved for whatever day you need it, but when you call in on the morning of chances are they will have no truck for you. I went with a penske and was quite happy with it.

I've never had a problem w/ Uhaul..........................Ya you're not gonna get a brand new truck, but when I checked around Penske wanted $150 + .39 a mile, whereas UHaul was 39.99 + .35 a mile.............Since I was just moving furniture, I didn't see the need for the $100 increase................But how do you think Roger affords those race teams??? :D

Uhaul... no frills but affordable. Penske... nice trucks but hurts the pocket. since you are just renting and don't need the truck to flash the ladies, go with UHAUL!

Flash the ladies.... yeah that's true, but there is something to say about moving in style. I've been using Penske for our company for just about a year now. Very great experience. I have lots of patience but little time, that is why Penske works out for me. Look at it this way, do you shop from an LFS that is dirty and disgusting, but has great prices, or do you shop from an immaculate store, with a higher price tag?

Moving in style?????........lol
IMO that means having somebody move for you...... ;)
BTW...........I've "flashed the ladies" before, but it had nothing to do with a moving truck.....:eek2:

That's simple. The cheap dirty one and then come here and complain.
Your experience with a uhaul dealer will depend on that particular location. I think many if not most are independents.

The one in Riverside and the one in Moreno Valley were horrible, oh not to mention Perris.... Oh yeah come pick it up by 10AM, get there at 9AM, sorry your reservation was cancelled by mistake, you can rent this for $50 more... That was it for me. 3 shops 3 awful results....

Wow..............that's right on the verge of being "bait & switch"..................Did you try calling U Hauls corporate office to complain?

That was a while ago, and it is not worth it.

contact a a tool retnal yard, a construction rental place. They have better rates and will work with you if you are a bit over the 24 hour deal, unlike u halul, which will stick it to you if you are one minute late...
I rented a truck for a day, brought it back in three hours, and they said I could come back and rent it again for half a day as I would have credit.... COOL, cause that was exactly what I needed...
I used SIMON RENTS. Good luck
