Anyone seen any for sale in the bay area? Or does anyone know where I can get a pair? Or any reefers have a ny for sale? They've been out here in Sac for a couple of months.

Tyler in Dolphin Pet village has a whole bunch a while back, and last time I was there about a couple of weeks ago, there were still some left. Call to check.

For you folks that have this type clown: Is is normal that they not be completely black? Most of the specimens I see at the stores are a mix of orange/black but were being sold as black Occ. Do they ever get completely black if they are not already?

The ones sold in stores are juveniles. As they mature most will lose the orange nose and turn completely black/white, but some will not.

here's my lil guy....i bought him about 3 years ago from Aquarium Concepts when they were in Hayward for 10 bucks. i thought he was a regular Percula clown, until a few months went by and he started to get darker and darker until he turned all black. took awhile for the white nose to turn black tho. i've read that some of them never lose the white nose....anyways good luck finding one....

Actually, check with Petco in Serramonte. Every so often, I see them there. But they always seem to have one at a time or it could be just the last one. Unless you're looking for just one. So far, I have seen them carry these 3 times and they sell them for 40 bucks. I would say they're about 1.5 inch with a slightly burnt orange at the nose/mouth area.

Or you can ask Lucky Goldfish (one in Oakland). They have them once in awhile as well. That's where I got my pair :)

Good luck!

btw, Mr2KiEu, very NICE clown! That's one very black clown :)

I have 2 larger and 2 smaller black clowns...

not sure why the price difference between places is so huge..
i've seen places charge 85$ for one, and another place charge 15$ for one.

(shrug)..

i have 2 large black clowns, i'm selling... apparently, 4 blacks and 2 orange clowns causes an imbalance.

Mayo, are they all the same species? The more pricey one would more likely be the black/white ocellaris like in the pics above, and the cheaper ones may be the black variant of A. polymnus.
