Thanks for the comments.

This hobby wouldn't be nearly as much fun if I couldn't take pics. I just wish I could get a really good 'true' macro lens.

Awesome... It sounds stupid, but I get mad at my hermits over this. I've been wanting to see it happen since we set up the tanks. I'll see one situating a shell, finding a spot, etc. And I'll sit and stare forEVER. Never fails, as soon as I get up to get a drink or something, I come back and he's moved. Grrrrrrrrrrr...

Hermits have a surprisingly long body. In the photo above, he still had more torso left in that shell.

Also....this guy was pretty clumsy in switching shells. He was exposing himself constantly.
I've had other hermits who will pull the shell directly in front of his shell, and in a blink of an eye, slip into the new home....very smooth transition.

I had one on my sump walking around without a shell once.

CKreef....can you estimate how much more body is left in that shell? I never saw the end.

Mine left his hindquarters curled up. At first it freaked me out. I was like what the he// is in my sump. I dont think there was much more in that shell.

Regardless of not being a "true macro" lense. Whatever! That's an awesome shot... Timing and quality. You should e-mail the full sized to reefkeeping or AA.

You could also submit it to the MASNA photo contest that is going on right now. We are members (the club) so you could submit as a member of MTRC.

Jack, I have a couple of pics I'll try and find this weekend. They're much better.

Here's more of the burlesque show from yesterday. BTW...my 2 hermits are still fooling with those shells, as I type. One has a new one on, but he's still sizing up the others.
