I need to get a quiet chiller. It will be in the living room and I don't want it to interfere with my TV watching :)

Any suggestions? (250 gallons)

Most chillers are 39db "Teco" to 60db for a "PC". I can not find the db rating for TradeWind or Aqua Logic".

So what does that mean 39db is a buzz of a mosquito and 60db is a normal conversation.

Tradewinds, Aqualogic, Univesal Marine and Current USA Modulars ... none of these are "quiet".

JBJ is rather quiet. Sounds like a small mini fridge.

I recently put a 1/4 hp Pacific Coast Imports chiller on my 75. It's rated at 42 db, and I was surprised that it wasn't louder. It's in the living room, and it kicks on and off pretty much unnoticed.

Hey Neil, I'm going to try out my 1/4 HP JBJ on a 210G. I have about 1,000W of lighting, I'll LYK how it works out. I actually might not even keep it, want to try to get away with my current chiller & a fan.

I currently have a 1/4 JBJ that I upgraded from a JBJ 1/10. They sound about the same to me, very quiet. the 1/4 is about 2 inches taller than the 1/10. When the 1/4 licks on it runs for about 10-15 minutes at a time. I have about 716 watts on a 79g. HTH.
