How long does it take for dead rock or man made rock to get covered in life with a new tank setup? I'm sure it will vary with the ratio of live vs dead but looking for times that people have witnessed.

Also, does anyone have pictures of dead rock that are now live? I heard you cannot tell the difference but I have not seen any after photo's that I knew started off as lifeless.

Lastly, has anyone seeded a tank of lifeless rock with GARF Grunge only? How long would that take to seed the rock and start nice coraline coverage?

Tank size I'm considering is 90G.

After 8 weeks I have been seeing rice sized splotches of corraline algae. Of course I've had diaoms and algae grow as well. You can still tell the difference, but the base rock now blends in and from afar you can't tell. I figure in another couple of months there should be nice coralline growth. By then I hope to have some corals on there too.

I started seeing some growth about after a month just using 2 softball sizes of base rock to seed 100lb man made and base rock
