I've been watching this Monti and Oregon Tort grow towards each other for awhile now and it's getting to the point where I don't know if I should cut the rock between them or let them grow into each other. Who will win this battle for space or will they be fine growing into one another?

Any thoughts?

If it was me I would cut the rock between them

In my experience, montis always lose. But eventually they will grow around each other.

I have been wondering the same with all my sps. it seems like they die where they make contact with each other but it doesnt kill the whole colony.
I think some sps are more aggressive than others though.
I'd personally just watch them. I mean eventually all your sps are gonna grow and you cannot cut rock and constantly move them I feel letting nature take its course is what has to happen in the long run.
Russ has the most SPS exp. here though so i'd go with what he thinks.

OK they're touching now so we'll see what happens. If one starts to get smoked out I'll cut rock and separate them.

Peel off some of that GSP while you are at it. GSP will take over anything.

I've got a monti digi and a milli growing together, nothing dead yet.
Russ........what is you exp. with millis? Do they seem to win the battle with acros and montis or will the two be able to continue grow together?

Seems like milles always win. Eventually most acros and milles will grow away if 2 are starting to touch. I think milles wins due to they have longer polyp extension.

Hey Chris, remember that browned out acro we split for $10. Check out this pic of it I took tonight. It's turning out to be the second nicest one in the tank.

Clearly bleached!

Chris, how did that infamous coral turn out?

It's good, it has darkened, which I expected but I think it will lighten up with the brighter lights now.
It didn't die and the polyp extension is great and it still has several colors to it.
I am gonna borrow Scotts underwater camera tomorrow and try to get some good shots of the corals under the 1K lights
