You think I can get away with something like this, I want a nano for my desk, and I was thinking of having athe water cycle from my fuge on my 30, maybe have a small light flow pump send water to fuge and T off my return w/ a ball valve send back to nano and use only vinyl tubing.

Please, I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, is it a good idea, or bad, before I end up spending $$$ for all this.

I know with the knowledge out there I would avoid many mistakes.

Here is a rough draft of what im trying to do.

Here is a picture when I first started the 30

i think it would work...you just have to make sure that all of the hoses are secure so they dont fall out of the tank or sump

If I understand correctly, that would not work. It would be EXTREMELY difficult if not near impossible to have a pump from your new desk nano pump water to the fuge at the same rate as the other pump that's pumping water back into your nano. Sorta confusing. I don't know any other way to explain it.

You would need an overflow on your nano for this to work.

So I would need an overflow, but like I said up top I would have a ball valve on outtake and intake to adjust flow.

Seems to me like you already have a nano:confused:

I would do an overflow from the nano draining to the fuge, and a pump from the fuge as the return for the nano.;)

it'll work as long as you have a strong enough overflow to handle the pump you are using.

Yeah I know, we'll call it a mini nano then, do they make overflows that small, and Im sure it's expensive.

Also, hows the evap on something this small, It would sit above my computer, this maybe a problem.

you can probably make a small overflow type thing out of just pvc, a strainer, a nipple for the air tubing, airline tubing and the toms aqua lifter. just a thought.

what if there is a really slow flow from fuge to mini nano, just to cycle the water.

How much flow would it be (and would it work) if I put a small pump like a rio 800 of MJ 900 submerged in the fuge and a tube attached to the intake, sucking water into fuge from the mini nano. just a thought.

just remember that in a power outage, there will be more water going back in to your sump... your normal level will have to be lower for safty

cool idea!
