Hey all. I'm new at the whole salt thing and I'm looking for good LFS in the fort. I've been to 33 aquariums, but was wondering is there's a place with cheaper LR. I've seen it for 5/lb lowest. Any recommendations?

Take a trip down to Indy and pick out your own LR at Premiumaquatics. :D Shoot "Freed" a PM on this board, he lives in FW.

I think there is a nice store in Columbia City (Animal House?) and I use to get all of my FW stuff at Paws and Claws in Warsaw, not sure about their SW selection though, it's been a few years. Happy hunting!

Best place I have seen for live rock is "The Pet Store" near the corner of stellhorn and maplecrest. Another place with a pretty good selection of saltwater stuff is at the corner of cook and coldwater, I can't remember what that one is called.

Coral Reef Aquarium on North Anthony is by far the best saltwater exclusive fish store in Fort Wayne. Klaus is the owner and is extremely knowledgable about the hobby. His tanks are always clean and well stocked. Broadway Aquatics on Broadway has a good selection of freshwater, but don't much for saltwater. I'm not too impressed by either The Pet Store or Pet Warehouse. Try asking them a question and you will definitely know why.

I didn't mention the coral reef because they are looking to buy live rock. I'm also not sure if that guy actually has anything for sale. I have been there twice and been basically blown off both times. Needless to say I won't be going back.

I can definitely see why you might think that Coral Reef doesn't have Live Rock for sale. In the main part of the store, there isn't any out for sale. If you go down the hallway to the first room on the left hand side, you will find two tanks that are loaded with Alor Island, Indonesia or Blue Ridge live rock. This live rock is lighter than typical live rock. This rock sells for $9/lb, but since it's lighter it actually works out better or about the same as most live rock sold at $5/lb. Plus, it's top quality and already colored with different varieties of coralline algae.

Yes it's very good looking rock, going to pick up some of the blue ridge this weekend.
