Broken ceramic tabs on a 250w bulb, still usable?

I recently picked up a used PEC 250 watt bulb. When I received it in the mail the ceramic tabs on each end were broken. They were there they were just broken. Would it be dangerous for me to use this bulb? It's not the actual contacts, just the tab that goes over the glass ends of the bulb. The contacts are fine. If I was at home I could take a pic but I'm not. Has anyone ever ran a bulb when these tabs broke off? Thanks in advance.

yup, i've run plenty of bulbs with those tabs broken off. never seemed to be a problem.
