Hi could any one recommend or not, one of these or any other of the dwarf angel species for a jbj nano 24, the tank has been up and running for 1 year now with 2 small oscllaris clowns, zoas, mushrooms, candy cane and star polyps.

If anyone has done this and have any pics and advice...it would be much appreciated!

thanks

I have a cherub in my 24 gallon nanocube. No problem with it bothering corals but it does harass my firefish and my assesor. Mine get's along great with the clown I have so I bet you would be able to keep a cherub without a problem. They are also one of the more reef safe angel available. It won't nip at or eat your corals.

Here's mine

The picture you posted from the Marine Center looks like a Flameback, they need a little more room than a 24 from what I've heard.

Also don' get a Flame, Benn there, done that. He was way to active for our sized tanks and scared other fish into hiding. Found him dead on day after a month, unknown cause, he was eating fin, looked great, I guess it is common for them to die without any warning. Waste of $70.

Hi, looking at scott michaels marine fishes book it says the cherub gets slightly larger than a fireball. Unfortunately here in the UK we dont come across cherubs that often although fireballs are everywhere.

I'm looking to here from anyones experiences of keeping any dwarf angel in less than a 30g tank before i decide what to do.

Thanks for the reply and the pic!

they are completely reef safe, check it out...i dont know how available they are over there though. otherwise A Cherub or"Pygmy Angel" or that African Flameback Pygmy....woud also be very good!

Lamarcks need a bigger space than 30 gallons. They get big. They aren't a dwarf.

agree with echidna on that one....i know a guy thats got a pair of lamarks in his 125...they're over 6 inches each and they're very active...not good for a 30g tank

I think cherbubs are sopposed to be small, semi aggresive, and corful. I may be getting one for my 29 gallon reef.

I have an african flameback angel,in my 29g .Its dense with many corals that started all as frags. He (since i think its a male cause of coloration) dosent bother anything, knock on wood, but loves to graze on the glass and rock.I recommend this angel. I like them cause they arent as common as flames, cherub,or coral beauties. Try to find a small, colorful specimen that eats well at LFS,if possible.

I have a Cherub in my 55gal Reef. I have not seen he/she pick on a single coral yet, LPS, Zoos, and Softies included. . .

I have a cherub in my 20 long. It used to live in a 10 gallon with a bluehead wrasse, passer angel, and a neon goby... OMG my friend collected them all, dont know how they all lived in there for over a year. My cherub was fine, and even friendly with my A. Ocellaris. I recently swapped the Ocellaris out for a tomato clown, and the Cherub willl not leave the clown alone. The clown seems to be unaffected by the harrassment. Another wierd thing is the cherub loves to hang out around the BTA latley. So he won't let the clown near it.

That Picture is not a cherub, it's a brazillian flameback angel. And I have almost the exact setup you are describing. I have him with two ocellaris clown and several types of zoas, mushrooms, softies etc in a 20H. Oh and two sps. He's been a model citizen. Just add him last and give him many places to duck into. You can see an old picture of my setup if you click the little red house.

Good luck. I love that fish!

Every individual fish is different but I've had a flame angel in my Aquapod 24 for 9 months. He and my black and white ocellaris are best buds. I keep him pretty well fed and he hasn't bothered any of my coral or clams.
