I will be getting a shipment of Figi live rock. They are shipping it overnight. I want to take my time with the aquascaping of my tank. I thought that I would inspect and clean all of the pieces first and then put them into some aged salt water (2 to 3 days old) while I figure what needs to go where in my tank. Is it ok that I do it this way?

that would be fine how much live rock did you get and how much money was it and did you pay for shipping

I like e frsh water dip to help remove unwanted critters. Inspect and remove any unwated hitchhickers. Like sponges or algea or ect.. If handling the rock use non-powdered rubber gloves ( some critters can sting ). If leaving in a tub any length of time use a air aitor and power head. GL

That will work fine. If you have a powerhead, throw that in the container too.

I got 50 lbs of fiji live rock for $99 but paid alot for the shipping because time matters with live rock. Didn't want it on some truck somewhere all week.

I bought an extra powerhead...getting it tomorrow I'll throw it in there.

I would have never thought of the rubber glove idea. Thanks

Do not fresh water dip. The whole idea of buying live rock is to have live rock. Fresh water will kill good and bad critters all the same.

Just put my live rock in my tank. How often should I check the ammonia and nitrite levels? daily? Weekly?

That will be OK.
