Wondering if im overkilling on filtration

2 prism skimmers
1 fluval 204
2 penguin 330's

70lbs live rock
4 DSB

2 prism skimmers are fine for 75 gal, but hard to tune huh.

Canister filters can lead to higher no3 levels. If you remove all the media except one layer of filter cloth you should be ok. Yes even the carbon should be removed. Most people only use carbon for 48 hours or so every two weeks, or so.

Other than that I'd say it is fine. Your mostly just using the canisters for water movement. Live sand and live rock takes over.

Just wondering, but what does your no3 read.

I would say yes...some stuff is not needed. Also, there were a number of posts in the past that referenced test that showed two skimmers really didn't do better than one. In short, one skimmer always does better than the other, therfore, almost all of the work is done by one and the other produces very little waste.

You have a number of mechanical filters. With the LS and LR I would think that they are not needed, however, many people use them for increased water flow without the media or filter sponges.

Others may have opinions...
